Fethiye fishmarket

Fethiye Fishmarket

The balık pazarı or fish market is really one of our top recommendations if you want to go out for a delicious meal. It's not just going out for dinner in a restaurant! Eating at the fish market is an evening of entertainment in a great spot in the old town of Fethiye. Immediately at the entrance you will feel the unique atmosphere that prevails and we have not found a location like this anywhere else in Turkey.

Upon entering the courtyard, you will immediately see the fresh fish that is being sold. You can buy a fish there and indicate in which restaurant you want to eat. The restaurant of your choice will then prepare it appetizingly for you. You can also choose a restaurant first and ask for the menu, then the waiter will arrange the fish for you, there are also meat and other dishes available that are all worth trying.

Before you start the main course, try a glass of raki with all kinds of small starters, in Turkish starters are called meze, from cheese to bread with butter, squid rings, yoghurt with garlic, freshly baked bread with warm cheese, anchovies, salads, melon , everything is available and all equally tasty. While you enjoy each other and the food and drinks, Turkish musicians come to your table to play and sing for you and a tip from us is to give them a tip and they will stay longer, it's really great. There are also occasional salesmen who want to sell you roses, flower wreaths and other things, the good thing is that it is not pushy at all, there is a friendly, cozy atmosphere. The waiters in the restaurants really do their very best to make you as comfortable as possible and will give you a warm welcome everywhere. There are several restaurants where you can eat well. We can highly recommend 2 restaurants, these are Recep's Place and REIS. For example, if you want to celebrate your birthday, indicate this on arrival and they will often arrange something extra.

During the day you can also go to the fish market for breakfast or lunch in one of the restaurants.
