It is a real pleasure to lie here and very suitable for small children. The Blue Lagoon is located in a protected natural park and that is why an entrance fee of 25 Turkish Lira (converted to 3 Euro) is required if you come by car and want to park, the number of people in the car does not matter. There are several restaurants in the park and there is plenty to do, such as canoeing, snorkelling, diving and pedal boating. Ölüdeniz means "sea of the dead". The name originated from a legend. In earlier times, ships anchored in the sea and the crew went ashore to fetch clean drinking water. One of the handsome sons of an old captain fell in love with a local beauty Belcekız. The son came to get drinking water and returned to his father's ship. Every time the son went to fetch water, they saw each other and made love.

One day the father and son were sailing close by and a storm arose. The son told his father that there was a bay where they could take shelter. The water here was as still as a lake according to the son. The father thought that the suggestion stemmed from the love for the girl Belcekız and stubbornly continued to sail. The waves got higher and almost crashed on the rocks. The old captain lost his temper and hit his son into the water. The father continued his journey and ended up in an extremely quiet bay. He understood that his son had spoken the truth. The fair Belcekız heard the story of her lover's death and jumped from the rocks. The name of the rocks was called "Belcekız" and the sea was named after the death of the son as "sea of the dead" or "Ölüdeniz".
